Postdoctoral Fellow, Open AIR

Dr. Dennis Oghenerobor Agelebe is a Postdoctoral Fellow with Open AIR at the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society.

A legal scholar specializing in the intersections of green energy, digital innovation, and regulatory governance, Dr. Dennis Oghenerobor Agelebe leads the project "Digitalizing Energy Transition: Balancing Exclusivity with Inclusivity for Sustainability."

His research analyzes the adoption of green energy practices, the restructuring of energy markets, and the integration of digital technologies within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Dr. Agelebe’s work critically examines how regulatory developments at both national and regional levels can either advance or hinder progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Focusing on the balance between data exchange and intellectual property protection, his research aims to propose governance frameworks that ensure green and digital energy systems contribute effectively to sustainable development. Under the supervision of Professors Chidi Oguamanam and Jeremy de Beer, Dr. Agelebe collaborates with fellow Open AIR researchers to examine how regulation for innovation can reshape knowledge governance systems in Africa’s emerging green and digital sectors.
