Call for Proposals Scholarly Events and Outreach Activities Supported by the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue 2025–2026

This call for proposals invites University of Ottawa tenure-track or tenured professors to apply for funding (up to $10,000) to organize scholarly events or outreach activities.

Objectives of the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue

Endowed by a $5-million gift from Alex Trebek, the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue supports the work of University of Ottawa researchers, institutes and centres engaged in finding solutions to complex public policy challenges facing governments in Canada and elsewhere.

The Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue is a platform for University of Ottawa researchers to partner with government officials and to put research into action now and in the future by driving change on important issues.

The Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue operates under the auspices of the University of Ottawa’s Office of Public Policy Research and Outreach in the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation (OVPRI).

Call for proposals

This call for proposals aims to support the organization of high-profile scholarly events (conferences, forums, roundtables, workshops) and outreach activities (policy briefings, exhibitions, media activities) that address the challenges facing governments in Canada and elsewhere.

We invite the submission of proposals that promote the participation and engagement of people from groups underrepresented in research (see EDI in research) and/or marginalized groups. Creating and distributing content in both official languages will also be considered an asset.

Each event or outreach activity can receive up to $10,000. This program, funded by the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue, has a total budget of $50,000.

Scholarly events or outreach activities must take place between November 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026.
