The International Staff Mobility program allows support staff and professors to benefit from professional development in an international environment.

Staff mobility at uOttawa

The University of Ottawa recognizes that administrative staff and professors play an important role in executing its Strategic Plan, and more specifically international initiatives concerning students. This is why we have launched the International Staff Mobility program, which will allow support staff and professors to benefit from professional development in an international environment.

Through these mobility opportunities, administrative staff and professors will be able to exchange best practices with our partners, as well as be completely immersed in a new culture. This will allow them to develop international competencies, and in particular:

  • understanding cultural nuances;
  • acquiring intercultural communication skills;
  • participate in international research and teaching activities (professors);
  • appreciating the value of a mobility exchange for uOttawa students;
  • bring back innovative ideas.

These newfound skills and knowledge will help these employees better serve an increasingly international campus community, promote mobility among our student body, and support us in strengthening our relationships with our international partners. This will contribute to the University reaching its internationalization objectives.

Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is a program created by the European Union (EU) to promote education, training, youth and sport in Europe. In addition to other objectives, the program aims to promote cooperation with partner countries, such as Canada.

The University of Ottawa has been selected by a number of our European partners to participate in Erasmus+ (through Key Action 1: Mobility of Individuals for Higher Education and Training), giving uOttawa students, staff and professors the possibility to receive funding for mobility stays at these select partners.

The EU funding is aimed at covering travel costs as well as costs incurred during the stay, and it varies in relation to the length of the stay, the host country, and the distance between Canada and the host country, among other factors.

To learn more about Erasmus+ funding for the mobility of individuals, visit the EU’s website here.

Eligibility criteria vary according to the partner and agreement concerned; please consult the list of open calls below to view whether you are eligible for any opportunities.
