You should regularly check system settings and run software updates as they become available. By now, we are used to updates from vendors such as Microsoft and Apple, but Information Technology also sends important updates for you to know about.

Information Technology sends updates which push notifications to your University-issued computer. These updates usually require a reboot of your device. The next time you restart your computer, the updates will complete, and the notifications will disappear.

Here’s what they look like. Updates for Windows and Microsoft Office come in the Software Centre (SCCM) of your computer.

In your desktop notifications, you will see a message that software changes are required.

Other types of updates pushed by Information Technology come through the Dell Command Update. This command centre manages all updates required for Dell computers.
