University of Ottawa is poised to embark on a comprehensive reevaluation of its printing services.

Printing services at the University of Ottawa are currently provided by our business partner, Xerox. Our contract with them is set to expire by the end of June 2024, so we will take this opportunity to reassess the state of printing services offered to the University community. We currently have an aging fleet of 585 printers distributed across our campuses that needs to be refreshed. Additionally, the advent of telework in our environment over the past few years has significantly changed our printing habits.

There may be cost savings and efficiency gains in how we provide and manage our printing services on campus. The accelerated decline in usage over the past three years has highlighted the importance of adapting our services to meet current needs: by reducing and optimizing the current printer fleet while integrating criteria such as flexibility, cost optimization, energy efficiency, and security.

A University-wide assessment of printing services will be conducted in the coming months. Stay tuned for further updates.
