In order to be eligible to apply students must hold either hold:

• A law degree (LLL, LLB or JD) from an institution in Canada or a third country whose degrees are specifically recognized by l'Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 (UJM),

or

• A degree equivalent to a Master I (or a Maîtrise during the transition period) from an institution in France or a third country, whose degrees are specifically recognized by the University of Ottawa (UO).

The institution to which applicants submit their initial application is considered the applicant’s home institution:

• Students with law degrees from an accredited institution in Canada must apply to UO. 
• Students with a law degree from an accredited institution in France must apply to UJM. 
• Students with a law degree from a third country may apply to either UO or UJM.
• Canadian residents who received their law degree outside Canada are encouraged to apply to UO as their home institution.

Given the requirements of the courses of study provided for under this IRA, students must have sufficient language skills to be able to study in French while at UJM.

Students who wish to apply to participate in this arrangement must do so through their home institution. 

Students for whom the University of Ottawa is their home institution

• Applicants must submit a complete application to the LLM with Research Paper, without concentration.
• In addition to the general requirements, he must include a cover letter indicating why they wish to participate in the IRA with UJM.   Confirm that you meet the admission requirements for the LL.M. with research paper, without concentration.
• The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law then nominates up to five (5) students for consideration by UJM.
• UJM then decides which of the nominated candidates will be admitted to its Master II Program.

Students for whom the Université  Jean Moulin Lyon 3 is their home institution

• Applicants must follow the admission procedures set forth by UJM.
• UJM then nominates up to five (5) applicants to the UO for consideration by the Graduate Admission Committee at the Faculty of Law.
• UO decides which of the nominated candidates will be admitted to its LLM Program.

Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University (UJM) students must :

• pay tuition fees and related expenses to the University of Ottawa for two (2) full-time Graduate Studies sessions (Winter and Summer)
• they will receive the  Differential Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship.  That means that their tuition fees will be reduced to those paid by Canadian citizens and permanent residents. They must, however, pay the related expenses and mandatory third-party fees (ex: universal bus pass, health and/or dental insurance) as regular Canadian students.

The University of Ottawa students must:

• pay the required tuition fees and related expenses to Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University (UJM) for two (2) full-time registration (Fall and summer) in the graduate studies program. They must pay the same tuition fees as French students.

Other expenses

All students who participate in the course of study under the IRA with AMU are directly responsible for making the necessary arrangements to cover the cost of accommodation, international travel, visas, domestic travel in the host country, books, equipment, consumables, hospitalization, health insurance (while at UO, students must enrol in the UHIP plan or have equivalent coverage) and other incidental expenses.
