May 5, 2023 — All day
This summit event is part of a series of multidisciplinary and intersectorial outreach activities focusing on the benefits of music engagement on health and wellbeing, hosted by the Music and Health Research Institute (University of Ottawa), in partnership with the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre (The Royal Hospital). These events will gather leading researchers from all across Canada, in the humanities and social sciences (music, education, and psychology), health sciences (rehabilitation, audiology, and speech therapy), sciences (neurosciences, biomechanics) and various domains of medicine.

Details
A summit event (May 5) on a Music on Prescription Initiative, where researchers, community stakeholders, and decision-makers across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors will engage in discussions on social prescribing with the aim of providing concrete recommendations. This sharing of varied experiences and diverse perspectives will help to better define and clarify the issues and needs specific to the development of a model of music and health in social prescribing. This will be followed by the publication of a special online dossier, in French, on music on prescription (10-12 papers, plus podcasts and videos) in the ACFAS magazine Enjeux-recherche (November 2023). This summit and the follow-up publication will elaborate a plan of action and build concrete strategies for the implementation of a model of Music on prescription in the Ottawa area, extending across Canada.
This event will be open to the public
