- Explain the structure and function of the Canadian machinery of government, particularly in relation to science and innovation policymaking.
- Articulate the basic concepts and tools within SSP scholarship and practice, and their evolution including emerging themes at the intersection of science, society, and public policy.
- Describe the historical development of the science-society-policy interface in Canada and globally, including key turning points and institutional shifts.
- Analyze seminal reports and studies that have shaped science policy in Canada, highlighting their influence on current practice.
- Critically assess the role of science diplomacy in today’s fragmented geopolitical context, using case studies and current discourse.
- Demonstrate readiness to apply foundational SSP knowledge in professional, academic, or policy settings through participation in the optional in-person discussion session.
