Job Description:
All referees are responsible for officiating league games in a respectful, courteous, and professional manor, while providing a fun and safe environment for all Intramural participants. Referees will implement established Intramural sport-specific rules to the best of their abilities. Referees report directly to their sport’s head referee and work in conjunction with the League Supervisor as well as the Program Coordinator(s) where necessary.
Experience / Skills Required:
- Excellent knowledge of rules, usually acquired through experience officiating or participation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflicts.
- Leadership qualities and ability to work as part of a dynamic team.
- Good language competency (oral, written) in both English and French.
- Recognized Referee Certification an asset.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Before the Season:
- Maintain proper certification by an appropriate governing body.
- Know and understand all rules specific to the sport, and the league.
- Provide availability to the Head Referee in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings scheduled by the Head Referee.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions.
During the Season:
- Officiate all games assigned by the Head Referee.
- Finding a replacement for any assigned shifts for which you cannot be present.
- Notify the Head Referee of all shift changes.
- Ensure games start and end on time.
- Referee fair and consistent games to the best of your ability.
- Maintain a positive attitude around participants and peers.
- Complete appropriate incident/accident reports, when necessary, prior to leaving the facility.
- Immediately report major incidents/accidents to the League Supervisor.
- Provide truthful and detailed reports if asked by the Head Referee or Disciplinary Committee.
- Stay and officiate a friendly match in the event of a forfeit, if the minimum number of participants is present.
- Communicate throughout the season with Head Referee.
- Remain professional at all times.
- Assist with equipment set up and/or take down.
- Inspect facilities to ensure safe game play

Job Summary:
- Performs the surveillance necessary to ensure the safety of all aquatic centre users.
- Prevents accidents by enforcing health regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the aquatic centre.
- Performs rescues and first aid necessary for the preservation of life in a team setting.
- Teaches aquatic instructional programs outlined in the Sports Services curriculum.
- Completes administrative and support tasks including pool tests, attendance, incident reports, instructor report cards, facility maintenance tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor
- The position requires the flexibility to work morning, day, night and/or weekend shifts at the aquatic centre.
Essential Qualifications:
- Age: Minimum 16 years of age
- Current Aquatic Certifications:
- Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard: Pool Option
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED from an agency approved by the Ontario government
- Lifesaving Society Airway Management or an equivalent oxygen therapy certification
- Aquatic Instructor Certification (Lifesaving Instructor preferred (Swim or Lifesaving))
- Advanced aquatic qualifications considered an asset
- Working knowledge relative to an aquatic and sport environment
- Past experience working in an aquatic setting
- Ability to handle the stress of an emergency situation
- Excellent public relations and customer service skills
- Experience in using computer systems and software such as Windows, Word processing, spreadsheets/databases, e-mail and Internet
- Responsible, organized and excellent time management skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Job Description:
The Certified Personal Trainer is responsible for establishing realistic goals with their clients, designing, tailoring and implementing fitness programs for them. Each client has specific needs and it is left up to the trainer to prescribe specific programs to their clients in order for them to achieve their goals. The trainer is a professional in the fitness field and they are to teach their clients how to train safely, by demonstrating and teaching proper technique and using appropriate cues to guide their clients through their workouts.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Current uOttawa student or recent graduate
- Experience in the areas of personal training &/or exercise physiology
- Valid level 1 Personal Training certification by an accredited association (CanFitPro, SPI, NCSA, CSEP, ANIE etc…)
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED from an agency approved by Ontario WSIB
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Personal Trainer should be professional and responsible at all times;
- Fill out all pertinent documentation in regards to their clients health history in order to be able to tailor the fitness program specifically for the client;

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Current certification by a recognized fitness institution (CanFitPro, YM/YWCA, CAIA, ACE, OFC, Water Art, etc.)
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED from an agency approved by Ontario WSIB
- Relevant experience in aerobic instruction
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for promotion of health and fitness in the community;

- Relevant experience in Yoga instruction

Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Communicates with all departments of the organization to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers.
- Recruits volunteer students or staff to fit these roles using a variety of resources and techniques.

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Zone Manager provides administrative and operational support and handles a designated zone area to supervise, assign and motivate volunteers. Assist with directing traffic and welcoming new residents and their parents arriving on campus for the first time. The Manager directs and oversees various groups of volunteers (reception, circulation, unloading, parking, etc.) as well as Gee Gee’s athletes placed in their zone.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
• Wear a polo provided by Clients Relations during the weekend.
• Conduct yourself with tact, professionalism and with very organized skills
• Apply the policies and procedures established by Client Relations and the University of Ottawa.
• Communicate with the project coordination Team to identify needs for volunteers or to report any incident or alarming situation that may occur
• Participate in Zone Manager training
• Participate and give training to volunteers.
• Write, execute and respond to social media post;
• Regularly communicate with volunteers to welcome them and present yourself.
• Write a final report by providing your feedback, guidelines, best practices, and procedures for volunteer program.
• Participate in the volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities.
• Responsible to set up your zone with carts, and all equipment needed like forms, pens, etc.
• Responsible to store all the equipment in a designated storage room and secure the area. All unclaimed cart forms must be returned to the Front Desk of the residence you represent.
