A specific policy applies to international placement; please refer to the international Placements Policy for distinct rules.
Procedure:
- The process of finding a placement must be done with the approval of the placement Coordinator;
- The School of Social Work will make reasonable efforts to place a student in a field placement that meets the academic and supervisory requirements of the program while accommodating, if applicable, the student’s documented special needs.
Criteria :
- Placements sites must have the capacity for social work supervision and meet the internship’s pedagogical objectives;
- Students eligible for internships in the CNFS uOttawa component (placements in Francophone minority settings) will be given priority over other external placements;
- Students who are eligible for this policy must take part in seminars on integrating internships experiences. This mandatory course is offered in classroom setting at the University of Ottawa. Depending on the availability of multimedia classrooms, students may take the seminar remotely if the internship location is two hundred and fifty kilometers (250) or more away. However, these students will have to travel to Ottawa for certain seminars, at the request of the placement coordinators, professors or thesis director.
