Architecture Working Group (AWG)

Architecture Working Group (AWG) is the approval authority for Enterprise Architecture principles, IT Standards, and strategic architecture roadmaps. The primary mandate of AWG is to review and authorize proposed IM/IT projects initiatives and solutions to be communicated and presented at ARB, steps that are mandatory throughout the Project Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) gating requirements.
Architecture Working Group – Roles and Responsibilities
The Architecture Working Group (AWG) provides strategic oversight and governance for enterprise architecture across the University. Its key responsibilities include:
Strategic Oversight
- Apply a university-wide lens to digital initiatives and architectural decisions.
- Guide and approve architecture deliverables for major initiatives.
Architecture Governance
- Review and endorse business and IT designs, including capabilities, data, infrastructure, systems, and applications.
- Define and maintain the Enterprise Architecture Strategy (principles, standards, policies, guidelines, and reference models).
Collaboration & Alignment
- Align technology solutions with institutional goals.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and architectural consistency.
Continuous Improvement
- Monitor trends and update architectural practices.
- Encourage adoption of best practices and ongoing learning.
