Mandate

The ARB is the crossroads for reviewing IT initiatives, ensuring they are aligned strategically and architecturally and using best practices in accordance with uOttawa policies and standards regarding business and technical capabilities, information management, security and privacy, integration, user experience, application design and infrastructure.

The ARB process is published and accessible to University staff. The ARB conducts a project presentation process, with peer review and approval by the AWG at various stages of the project lifecycle (initiation, solution approach and solution architecture review). Overall, ARB presentations are aligned with the University’s enterprise architecture principles, reference models (e.g., higher education capability model), and IM/IT policies and standards.

Roles and Responsabilities

  • Communicates with and involves the broader IM/IT community or staff in general by presenting projects that may affect various University units, processes and policies.
  • Enables a proactive response to any negative impact of IM/IT initiatives on organizational units, processes and policies, by seeking out comments recommendations and questions from members representing the broader IM/IT community.
  • Establishes a two-way organizational analysis and communication alignment strategy leading to long-term efficiency and productivity with regards to IM/IT initiatives.
  • Reviews intake forms submitted through the PPMO process regarding deployment at the enterprise level prior to final UIGC evaluation.
