The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is involved in undergraduate education throughout the four years of medical school.

In Years one and two, our faculty are involved with the Physician Skill Development course, and pre-clerkship students are offered an elective experience in the Emergency Department working one-on-one with staff physicians and residents. In Year 3, DEM Faculty teach in the Link Block, providing foundation knowledge for third year clerks. As part of the clerks' core Acute Care rotation, we provide a 4 week rotation in the Emergency Department to all students. Our clerkship has been the highest ranked rotation by medical students since we introduced it in 2003. In Year 4 we provide lectures in the Back-to-Basics series, and offer students a 2 to 4 week elective experience.
