Overview of academic regulations

Academic integrity and academic misconduct

Every year, professors of the faculty report academic fraud cases – serious penalties are imposed and can vary between a zero for the work, a grade F for the course, the expulsion of the Faculty or even from the University. It is a very serious matter! Think about it as it can be very costly.

For more information on the matter, please consult the Academic regulation A-4.

Graduate studies

General requirements for full-time studies

Full-time students must:

  1. have been admitted to a graduate diploma or graduate program as full-time students;
  2. be enrolled full time and pay full-time fees;
  3. be pursuing their studies on a full-time basis;
  4. be in regular communication with their thesis supervisor and/or their program;
  5. be considered full-time graduate students by their program and their thesis supervisor.

Students may participate in off-campus academic activities (e.g., visiting libraries, conducting field research, attending a graduate course at another institution, conference) with the approval of the thesis supervisor or the graduate program director.

Transferring from full-time to part-time status

Requests to transfer from full-time to part-time status must be submitted for final approval to the vice-dean of graduate studies (or equivalent) of the faculty offering the program.

The time limit for satisfying the requirements of a degree or a graduate diploma when transferring from full-time to part-time status remains the same as that provided in Academic Regulation: C-6 Time Limits to Complete Graduate Degree and Diploma Requirements.
