As soon as you apply for admission to the University of Ottawa, you are considered an applicant. Here are a few IT resources to get you started.
Access the Internet: You can access the Internet from computer labs, at wireless areas on campus or from your home. For wireless access on campus, connect to the eduroam wireless network.
Printing: Printing, copying and scanning is now easier than ever. You can use uoPrint portal on the go or at the available machines located in the Morisset Library, labs, and other places on campus.
Public computers and in-person service desk: Public computer lab and in-person Service Desk: Morisset Library has computers, several printers and the IT Service Desk (see In-person support). The computers are accessible during the Library’s regular business hours.
Remote access to computer lab: The StudentLabs.uOttawa.ca portal allows University of Ottawa students to use their personal computers to gain secure remote access to computers and software from select University labs.
Purchase computers: If you’re looking to get a personal computer, we recommend you check out these two sites:
uoZone: is a student portal for accessing many online services and information. As an applicant, you will be able to track your admission file and upload any necessary documentation on uoZone from any web browser.
Brightspace: Brightspace is uOttawa’s Virtual Campus. It is an online learning management system (LMS) that is used by most professors which provides access to course information, online assessments and learning resources through a single portal.
Current student website: Discover more tools and resources to help you in your studies.
Technical specifications for student laptops website: Shopping for a new laptop? See the minimum requirements for laptops and more of our recommendations.
@uOttawa.ca email: Students at the University of Ottawa have access to a uOttawa email account (@uOttawa.ca) using the Outlook platform powered by Microsoft. Your Outlook account is automatically activated up to 48 hours after you successfully enroll in at least one course in uoCampus.
Accessing your @uOttawa.ca email account for the first time:
Log into uoZone using your uoAccess credentials which are in your admission acknowledgement email. If you are a non-degree student, these credentials will be in the email with the subject "Bienvenue à l’Université – Welcome to the University!" you received shortly after you enrolled. If you didn’t receive this email, please contact the Service Desk (contact information below).
Under the @uOttawa.ca email account section, click on Open my @uOttawa.ca email account (Outlook).
Multi-Factor Authentication: Enrol for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) today! MFA is required to access many University systems and applications. It provides an added layer of security for your accounts. One week after activating your uOttawa.ca account, you will be prompted to enrol into MFA (if you have not done so already). When you log into applications that require MFA you will be guided through the enrolment process. To ensure continued access to University resources, follow the instructions to set up MFA.
