Podcasts are a growing medium that comes in all kinds of genres and covers all kinds of topics. The University of Ottawa has been riding the podcast wave, with many members of the University community creating podcasts of their own. From tech to health care, here are some of the podcasts created by our fellow Gee-Gees.

Faculty of Engineering — Make the Future

Hosted by the dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Jacques Beauvais, “Make the Future” is a tech podcast that connects listeners with leaders of the National Capital Region’s thriving technology sector. The podcast is heading into its second season, where it will be exploring themes of equity, diversity and inclusion in the technology and engineering sector. Listeners can also learn more about the Kanata North collaboration between researchers at uOttawa and the technology industry.

Alumni Relations — uOttaKnow

“uOttaKnow” is an expert-driven current affairs podcast produced by the Alumni Relations team at the University of Ottawa. Gwen Madiba, a young uOttawa alumna, hosts the podcast and encourages thought provoking discussion with high-profile researchers and uOttawa alumni on the cutting edge of their fields. This fall, the podcast will touch on timely topics such as stress, mental health, vaccine research and educational adaptability.

uOttawa Centre for International Policy Studies – CIPS POD

The Centre for International Policy Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences  is a leading centre for analysis and debate regarding international affairs.  Professors from the centre discuss many current issues in the realm of politics, such economic recovery in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of high tech on inequality, and global governance. Professors engage in highly stimulating discussions with authors, political figures and academics from institutions across the globe.

uOttawa Faculty of Medicine Solving Healthcare

Produced in association with the Faculty of Medicine, “Solving Healthcare” is a podcast hosted by Dr. Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, an ICU doctor at the Ottawa Hospital. The podcast features interviews and discussions on topics related to improving health care delivery in Canada based on the values of cost-effectiveness, dignity and justice in health care. Kyeremanteng challenges the status quo and explore gaps, assumptions and different perspectives in the pursuit of finding solutions to the problems in Canada’s health care system.
