Welcome to the Faculty Development Program of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, entrusted to support the educational needs for the career development of our Faculty members.

Overseen by the Office of Continuing Professional Development, our goal is to provide our Faculty members with well-structured and innovative programs to support them in their academic mission as teachers, researchers and administrators.

We provide teaching skills enhancement to the teachers of our undergraduate medical education (UGME), postgraduate medical education (PGME) and Graduate Studies programs, and promote excellence and innovation in teaching.

Our programs are designed to provide skills development in the topics of communication, research and leadership skills to help faculty advance in their academic careers. Faculty Development provides workshops to clarify expectations for academic promotion in order to help faculty develop a personal strategy for achieving their career goals, including the option to obtain support through a pairing with a career development coach.

Faculty Development works closely with uOttawa departments to support intramural educational activities and facilitate access to unique programs developed across the University’s faculties and resource centres. Our goal is assist Faculty members achieve their career goals in the rich academic environment of uOttawa’s Faculty of Medicine.

Faculty Development in your workplace

The Office of CPD can assist in arranging and providing accredited learning in your workplace at rounds/seminars/special workshops for interested faculty members one on one observation of teaching.
