Dental/Maxillofacial Surgery (part of Division of Plastic Surgery)

The Division of Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery compromises of two distinct but complementary foci: a Dental Clinic and Maxillofacial Surgical procedures.

Clinical Programs

The Dental Clinic is the only full service adult dental care clinic in Eastern Ontario that provides specialized care for hospital and outpatients who are medically compromised. They provide all aspects of dental care, from examination, radiographs, cleaning, fillings, extractions and dentures, through to special prostheses and implants.  Among others, they provide care to physically and mentally challenged patients, the immunocompromised, heart and cancer patients, temporomandibular joint patients, trauma and geriatric patients, and long-term care patients. They also provide anesthesia services for those who wish their care under sedation.

Maxillofacial Surgery encompasses the diagnosis and surgical treatment of these conditions: Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), facial trauma and facial reconstruction, cleft palateobstructive sleep apnea treatment, TMJ dysfunctionoral cancerFacial cosmetic surgerydental implants including bone grafting, wisdom teeth extractions and other dental extractions

  • The Dental Clinic is located with the Civic Campus of The Ottawa Hospital.

  • Maxillofacial surgery procedures are completed at The Ottawa Hospital - General, Civic and Riverside campuses, as well as the Montfort Hospital and CHEO.
