Currently the HCF provides histology service to over 80 researchers from the University of Ottawa (Neuroscience, CMM, and BMI) and its partners at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI), The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre (TOHCC), Apoptosis Group and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). The HCF also provides service to special projects of the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Health Canada, the National Research Council (NRC), and Canadian Nuclear Labs, Deep River Ontario, all of which contribute to the University of Ottawa's goal of excellence in research.
The primary mission of the HCF is to provide efficient, high quality and cost-effective histological services for both animal and human tissue.
Infinity - Idea Elan
As of July 7th, 2021, the Louise Pelletier Histology Core Facility (LPHCF) has transitioned to the Infinity Core Facility management software. The Infinity software will represent a change in the way users request services, schedule and access equipment and will streamline operations, billing and reporting.
Histology Core in the news
Today, the Louise Pelletier Histology Core caters to over 600 service requests and creates approximately 36,000 slides for researchers each year. Not only does the lab assist researchers, it also offers the services of its Pathology Experimental Group which provides expertise on experimental design and clinical diagnosis.
