We are pleased to welcome Gisèle Yasmeen as Associate Vice-President, International as of February 2nd at the Office of the Vice-President, International and Francophonie.

Gisèle Yasmeen brings to her new role an important background where internationalization has played a major role.  This includes international and multidisciplinary collaborations and partnerships with researchers from the North and South, in particular South and South-East Asia, but also in Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa, the United States and Europe.

Gisèle Yasmeen comes to us from the University of British Columbia where she has been Senior Fellow at the Institute of Asian Research, part of the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, since 2014. She also served as Executive Director of Food Secure Canada, and prior to that, held several senior positions, including Vice-President, Research and Partnerships, at Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for seven years. She has also been a consultant for several organizations in Canada and abroad.

Gisèle Yasmeen, who has studied several languages, holds a B.A. Honours in Geography and Political Science from the University of Ottawa, an M.A. in Geography from McGill University and a Ph.D. in Geography on urban food systems from the University of British Columbia.
