The Common Law mourns the passing of Allan (“Al”) R. O’Brien LLB 1973. A founding partner of Nelligan O’Brien Payne, Al was a pillar of the Ottawa legal community and a strong supporter of the Common Law Section. He was one a member of the Founders Committee that created the Common Law Honour Society in 2003 and was himself inducted as a member in 2005. Under Al’s longtime leadership, Nelligan O’Brien Payne sponsored numerous programs and scholarships at the Faculty, including the extremely popular Nelligan First Year Moot, now in its second decade. Our condolences go out to Al’s family and his colleagues at Nelligan O’Brien Payne.
