The Joint Committee has also approved the promotion of Professors Natasha Bakht, Nathalie Chalifour and Heather McLeod-Kilmurray to the rank of full professor, effective May 1, 2020.

Wolfgang Alschner – Granted tenure and promoted to associate professor
Professor Alschner teaches international economic law and data science for lawyers. His research uses computational and empirical methods to investigate international trade and investment law.
Professor Bakht teaches courses in family law; women, religion and law; and children and the law. Her area of expertise is the intersection of women’s equality and religious freedom, and she will soon be publishing a book on the rights of niqab-wearing women.
Yan Campagnolo – Granted tenure and promoted to associate professor
Professor Campagnolo teaches constitutional law, administrative law and trusts. His research focuses primarily on the rule of law, the separation of powers and cabinet secrecy.
Nathalie Chalifour – Promoted to full professor
Professor Chalifour teaches courses in climate change law, environmental law and sustainability. Her areas of research include climate change and the constitution, and environmental justice.
Aimée Craft – Granted tenure and promoted to associate professor
Professor Craft is an internationally recognized leader in the area of Indigenous laws, treaties and water. She focuses on Indigenous-led and interdisciplinary research, including in visual arts and film, and has received a series of major grants to lead research on Indigenous water governance and responsibilities for nibi (water).
Florian Martin-Bariteau – Granted tenure and promoted to associate professor
Professor Martin-Bariteau is director of the Centre for Law, Technology and Society. A technologist and creative turned legal scholar, his research focuses on technology law, ethics and policy, with a special interest in blockchain, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and intellectual property.
Heather McLeod-Kilmurray – Promoted to full professor
Professor McLeod-Kilmurray mainly teaches about torts and legal writing, climate change and legal change, and food law, but she has also taught administrative law. Her primary research interests are environmental law, food law, toxic torts and environmental justice.
