About this event

To all students (1L, 2L, 3L) who wish to participate in this year's Hicks Morley moot competition taking place at our faculty on February 24, 2023.

This year’s moot problem addresses the constitutionality of Bill 124 (Protecting a Sustainable Public Sector for Future Generations Act, 2019, S.O. 2019, c. 12.1), which prevents an organization (like government agencies, colleges and hospitals) covered by Bill 124 from increasing the salary rate applicable to a position or class of position by more than 1%. Students will have to argue whether the bill violates section 2(d) of the Charter and if it does can it be saved under section 1.

The moot is only in English.

If you wish to apply, you simply have to sign up in pairs (teams of two). Each pair must provide their names, email addresses, your current year of study (1L, 2L, 3L) and indicate if you have already participated in the Hicks Morley moot competition by email.

Please leave your application to Prof. Daimsis, before 11:59 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2023, at [email protected].

We are limited to 24 teams of two.

Thank you. We look forward to receiving your applications.
