What is code switching? According to Full Professor Carole Fleuret of the Faculty of Education:

“Code switching is mostly used to switch from one language to another, and was long considered a bad practice. For example, it was thought that people who spoke that way weren’t fluent in either language. Afterwards, we came to realize that code switching demonstrates the cognitive flexibility of bilingual or multilingual speakers because they are drawing from their vocabulary the word that best suits the context.”
