Nadia Effendi with AJEFO article
Congratulations to alum Nadia Effendi on receiving the Order of Merit from l’Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario (AJEFO).

Effendi won the gold medal and graduated summa cum laude from the Common Law Section in 2003 and was admitted to the Bar that same year. Today, as a bilingual partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, she handles commercial litigation, as well as cases involving administrative, regulatory, constitutional and human rights law.

She is a staunch advocate for the Francophonie in Ontario and particularly for language rights. She served as president of the AJEFO from 2018 to 2020 and currently sits on the Ontario Bar Association’s Official Languages Committee.

Throughout her career, Effendi has received numerous awards for her professional and community achievements.

The AJEFO Order of Merit is awarded annually to one or two individuals in recognition of their contribution to the promotion of legal services in French, their support for the implementation and development of common law in French, and their dedication to the cause in associations and organizations.
