The University of Ottawa Residences do not have the same recycling system as the rest of the campus. Here is a list of what is permitted in the Residence recycling system.
Acceptable:
All food, including meat
Disposable coffee cups
Coffee grounds and tea bags
Dryer lint
Chartwells clamshell containers
Microwave popcorn bags
Food-soiled paper of any kind

tissues
Plants
Compostable plastic bags
Not acceptable:
Plastic bags

Computers and computer parts (keyboards, mice, monitors, hard drives, optical drives- CD, Blu–ray, DVD, HD-DVD), printers and photocopiers
Radios and TVs, cameras, video recorders
Cell phones, pagers and answering machines
Audio and video players and recorders (MP3, cassette, digital), speakers
NOTE: You may leave your e-waste on any recycling station on campus with a note stating: ‘please recycle’.
Acceptable:
Newspapers, flyers and magazines
Cereal and cracker boxes (liners removed)
Fine paper, Post-it notes, file folders and envelopes
Brown paper bags (unsoiled)
Not acceptable:
Disposable coffee cups
Milk & juice cartons
paper soiled with food and pizza boxes
Paper towels
Cardboard: flatten and place beside recycling bins or bring to waste room recycling bin
Clothing and household goods can be donated in red donation box on CRX 1st floor under the stairs (For the Free Store)
Ink cartridges, used writing instruments, hard Styrofoam (laptop or t.v. packaging foam) & Brita filters : bring to the Free Store
