General information

We are not responsible for any changes that professional bodies make to their requirements. See professional bodies' websites for the most up-to-date information.

The University of Ottawa does not offer programs that enable entry into the following professions:

  • Agrologist
  • Architect
  • Chiropractor
  • Career or educational counsellor (We do offer, however, a master’s in education with a concentration in counselling psychology.)
  • Dentist
  • Chartered appraiser
  • Optometrist
  • Psychoeducator
  • Urban planner
  • Veterinarian

Appropriate knowledge of French

Members of professional bodies must have an appropriate level of knowledge of French to practise their profession. The professional bodies determine whether applicants must pass a French test and refer them as necessary to the Direction de l’évaluation du français. Passing the Office québécois de la langue français French exam allows applicants to receive certification of their knowledge of French, a step necessary for the professional body to issue a permanent licence.
