Teaching and support staff and students at the University of Ottawa have to recognize that their learning and working environment have rules that differentiate it from a social environment; they have a responsibility to know about sexual harassment in order not to engage in behaviours that might be perceived as sexual harassment.

In situations where students or employees have been put on notice that their behaviour is unwelcome, they have the additional responsibility to modify their behaviour.

University Policy on sexual harassment provides for sanctions in cases of sexual harassment. Managers and supervisors have additional responsibilities with respect to sexual harassment; they must act when they have knowledge of sexual harassment.

Recognize that prevention of sexual harassment is everyone’s responsibility and know how sexual harassment can be prevented.
