On December 31, 2016, the Governor General of Canada, his Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, announced the appointment of three uOttawa professors to the Order of Canada.
Linda Cardinal, professor at the School of Political Studies and holder of the Chaire de recherche sur la francophonie et les politiques publiques at the Faculty of Social Sciences, was honoured for her research and contributions to public policy development and to the advancement of language rights.
Benoit Pelletier, full professor at the Faculty of Law (Civil Law), was appointed for his efforts to bring about interprovincial and territorial co-operation and for his advocacy on behalf of Francophone communities.
Richard French, professor at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs of the Faculty of Social Sciences, was recognized for his contributions to enhancing public institutions and for his efforts to bridge the gap between the public sector and the business world.
With these new recipients, 45 University researchers, including 11 women, have now been appointed to the Order of Canada as members, officers or companions.
