Writing a compelling lay summary: a hands-on workshop

default image

Do you struggle with translating your research into plain language? Writing a compelling and concise lay summary has become an essential part of any research project, because it informs the public and media of the nature of funded research projects.

This workshop will explore writing techniques, and offer practical advice and coaching to researchers. During the session, researchers will work on their own lay summary to make it clear, effective and accessible to a wider audience.

  • Each participant must send the lay summary they want to work on to the organizers two days prior to the workshop;
  • Each participant must bring a laptop to the workshop; and
  • Each participant must bring a paper copy of their lay summary to the workshop.

This workshop will be facilitated by:

  • Moreau-Johnson Françoise
    Manager, Centre for Academic Leadership
  • Girard Marie-Eve
    Senior Strategic Research Data Analyst
  • Monique Roy-Sole
    Director of Communication & Marketing, Research
