School of Nutrition Sciences Admissions Test

Applicants to the Honours Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Sciences – Dietetic program must be able to express themselves in both English and French. In order to assess these language skills, French and/or English tests may be required. The cost for the online language test is $100 per language evaluated.

The language proficiency tests to be completed are identified in the candidate's uoZone portal.

Description of the test

This online test is composed of two sections:

1. Written Expression: you will type a written response to a topic.
2. Spoken Expression: you will record spoken responses to a variety of questions.

You must allow 90 minutes to write the test, but you may finish more quickly.

Deadlines

The test will be completed individually by applicants any time between October 16, 2023, to June 21, 2024. The test is only offered online. The test is not administered on the University of Ottawa campus.

Applicants will be able to request access to the test as of October 16, 2023.

Applicants must request access to the test before 4:00 pm on June 14, 2024. Access requests will be processed within two business days.

Applicants must complete all tests by June 21, 2024 at 11:59 pm.

To demonstrate English proficiency:

Follow the login steps outlined on the uOLangTest Portal under the section:
Take the test.

• After you login, confirm that the email address in your profile (silhouette icon 👤 at the top of the page) is active. If you do not use your uOttawa.ca email address, please enter an email address to which you have access.

• Return to the home page and find Nutrition Sciences – English Test in the Available Activities list. Click on the Request Test button.

Make your payment:

• When the Request Access to Test pop-up appears, you must first click on the payment link. This will open uOttawa’s eStore in a new window. You can also make your payment by accessing the link to the eStore here.

• Pay for the test using a credit card only. The fee is $100.00.

• Note: if someone else pays for your test, make sure they type your name in the Details section of the payment form.

• Close the General Store window.

Request Access to the Test:

• Back in the XpressLab window, click the Request Access button in the pop-up.

• Wait to receive an email confirmation from [email protected] granting access to the test. Please allow up to two business days for your request and payment to be processed. The status of your request will remain to Requested until then.

Writing the test:

• When you have enough time to write the test (90 minutes), log back in through the uOLangTest Portal. Return to the home page and find Nutrition Sciences Admission Test – English Test in the Available Activities list. Click on the Start Test button. 

• Write the test. You will receive the results by email 3-5 business days after submitting your test.
