Support sessions following the death of a member of the student community

We learned with great sadness about the death of a member of the student community. All of our thoughts are with our student’s family and friends today.

The University has put in place measures and resources to provide you with support if needed.

Two external counsellors will facilitate support sessions that will allow you to share your reactions and help each other at this difficult time:

Thursday, January 18 (FSS 4007):

  • 7:00 pm - Support and listening session
  • 8:00 pm - Individual or small group counselling (as needed)
  • 9:00 pm - Support and listening session
  • 10:00 pm - Individual or small group counselling (as needed)

Friday, January 19 (FSS 4007):

  • Between 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm, two external counsellors will be available for small group or individual counselling (as needed)

We also encourage all students and staff in need of support to visit the present website (uOttawa Mental Health and Wellness) for more information about resources available on campus and in the community.

The University of Ottawa is committed to the well-being of its students and staff. Ensuring that everyone can experience good overall health allows them to be successful in their work and participate fully in university life. The University’s core values include preparing students to become leaders and encouraging and enabling our employees to achieve personal growth and wellness. As such, the Mental Health and Wellness website acts as a central location for information and resources at our University and in the surrounding community. It is also an excellent tool for family members, friends and colleagues who may need to help someone close to them that is studying or working at the University. The website is being rolled out in phases and will evolve with time in an effort to better help you and those you care about achieve balance and well-being.
