Sarah Stoodleyis the Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs for Newfoundland and Labrador. 

The Office of French Services (OFS) “is responsible for building the capacity of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to deliver services in French and to contribute to the development and vitality of the province’s Francophone community.”[1] In addition to supporting the Minister responsible for Francophone Affairs, the OFS offers a certain number of services to departments, such as translation and linguistic support services and a French training program. It also acts as a liaison between the government, the Francophone community and other levels of government.

Overview of the Laws, Policies and Regulations

The French Language Service Policy applies to all provincial government departments. Its objective is to “ensure a more consistent and coordinated approach to service delivery in French throughout the provincial government.”[1]
